How To Get Your Dog Used To Their Bath Time

Published by Mary Drews at 12:12 am under how to Edit This

My Dog hated taking a bath and would run and hide ever time the B-A-T-H word was mentioned. These easy steps below should help you to get your dog or better acclimated to the bath time experience.

Things you’ll need:

Dog Bathing Area

Water

Grooming Brush

Treats

Step 1: Take your dog into the area that you will be bathing them in. I always use our bathtub in the basement but you could even use a kiddy pool outside if you prefer, the point is to always make it the same spot of recognition for your dog and just brush him.

Step 2: Get your dog to lie down in the tub and be calm, while the water is running but not being applied to them.  It’s good to build some trust first so there not frightened.

Step 3: Praise them for their good behavior continually; you can give them a treat to show that they are being good while you are bathing them.

Step 4: Reward them with a treat and lots of praise after the bath. Dogs love to know they have done a good thing and this will make them want to do it again.

Do these steps often and soon they should be alright with bath time.
